This morning, Miguel Hernández University (UMH) held the official opening ceremony of the 2022/2023 academic year for the Valencian Community in the Assembly Hall of the Rectorate and Board of Trustees building. The ceremony was presided over by the Rector of the UMH, Juan José Ruiz, accompanied by the President of the Generalitat (Catalan Government), Ximo Puig; the Secretary General of the UMH, Mercedes Sánchez; the President of the University’s Board of Trustees, Joaquín Pérez; and the rectors of the Valencian public universities.

During the ceremony, the Secretary General of the UMH, Mercedes Sánchez, read the 2021/2022 Academic Year Report, while José Antonio Pérez Juan, Professor of the History of Law and Institutions, gave the inaugural lecture, entitled “The Conquest of Liberty: Press and Public Opinion in the Early Years of Spanish Constitutionalism.”

The UMH also awarded 19 end-of-service distinctions to members of the Administration and Services Staff and the Teaching and Research Staff.
