In addition to the Rector, those attending the event included the Vice-Rector for Faculty, José Carlos Espigares Huete; the Vice-Rector for Students and Coordination, José Juan López Espín; the President of the Social Council, Joaquín Pérez Vázquez; and the University Manager, Emma Benlloch Marco.

In the seventh edition of the “UMH University Management Innovation Week” awards, each worth €2,000, the winning projects were: “UMH Inclusive Educational Platforms,” by Laura Fernández Asensio, and “University Urban Art Route,” by José Alberto Palma García, both from the Communications Department; as well as the idea “Consulte (UMH Online Consultations),” proposed by David Úbeda González, from the Innovation and Technological Planning Department, along with Andrés Gallego Cano, from the Academic Management Department. The “UMH University Management Innovation Week” is coordinated by the Quality Service and promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Knowledge Transfer and Exchange and the UMH Administration.

The “UMH Inclusive Educational Platforms” proposal suggests that the university’s teaching materials (on YouTube, in short courses, etc.) be subtitled to make them more accessible to the hearing-impaired community. Meanwhile, the “University Urban Art Route” is a collaborative art project in which the university community and the citizens of Elche join forces to design, draw, and paint a surface on campus. The aim is to promote integration and dialogue between these groups, while simultaneously creating an intervention that adds personality and beauty to a shared space at UMH. Finally, “Consulte (Consultas telemáticas UMH)” consists of designing videoconference rooms to attend to the university community or prospective students by appointment, as well as combining the consultations with the editing of short videos that resolve the most frequent doubts.

Likewise, the jury of the 7th UMH University Management Innovation Week Award has given an honorable mention to the proposal “What to Eat at UMH,” presented by Roberto Prada González, from the Communications Department. This initiative aims to include UMH food options in the University’s app, as well as identify food outlets: vending machines and cafeterias (with their opening hours), and display daily menus so users can see what’s available each day without having to visit them.

During the event, recognition was also given to the promoters of the proposals that have been implemented, stemming from previous editions of Innovation Week. The five projects are: CLEAN BAT (4th Week), which involves implementing a workwear cleaning service available to University employees; INFO PARKING UMH (5th Week), which provides information on parking availability at the different UMH campuses with automated access, allowing users to go directly to those with available spaces via the UMH app; Dona+ (Week 5), a mobile phone application for making small donations to the UMH (Miguel Hernández University of Elche) for research projects, equality initiatives, etc., via bank transfer or credit card, was also recognized. The CAMPUS CHECK PROMO project (Week 5) was also awarded. This project involves installing proximity readers to replace existing ones, allowing users to open building doors and parking barriers with UMH cards and mobile phones via the UMH app. Another project recognized was ELIGE TU AVENTURA (Week 6), an initiative that will create an interactive game on social media profiles and other online platforms. Users must solve a mystery by following clues related to the different degrees offered at the UMH. Upon completing the game, users discover their vocation.

In addition, the 25 students with the best academic records from the 2019-2020 academic year received Academic Excellence Grants of €1,000 each. This award is part of the UMH Scholarship and Aid Plan of the Vice-Rectorate for Students and Coordination, which rewards UMH students who are studying for a Bachelor’s Degree or Official First and/or Second Cycle Qualifications.

The Vice-Rectorate for Faculty at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) has awarded 90 UMH Teaching Talent Prizes, each worth €1,500. These awards are distributed among professors in the academic fields of Health Sciences, Experimental Sciences and Engineering, and Social Sciences, Law, and Humanities. The prizes are part of the Docentia-UMH Program, which has received a positive evaluation from the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).

Speakers at the ceremony included Inmaculada Alonso, representing the students; Jorge Mataix, representing the faculty; and Ángeles Gallar, representing the administrative and service staff.
