Closure of the 2019/2020 academic year

The rector of the Universidad Miguel Hernández (UMH) in Elche, Juan José Ruiz Martínez, officially closed the 2019/2020 academic year this morning. During the ceremony, the 2019 Extraordinary Degree Awards were presented, as well as those for Innova-Emprende, EmprendeWeekend and Mentoring.
The ceremony was chaired, in addition to the rector, by the president of the Social Council of the University, Joaquín Pérez Vázquez; the Vice Chancellor of Studies, Susana Fernández de Ávila; the vice-rector of Knowledge Transfer and Exchange, María José López Sánchez; and the General Secretary, Mercedes Sánchez Castillo.
The event was also attended by, among others, the mayor of Elche, Carlos González; the mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana; that of Sant Joan d’Alacant, Jaime Albero; and the Councilor for Culture of Altea City Council, Aurora Serrat.
Prior to the closing ceremony of the academic year, the rector of the UMH, along with representatives of the University and the town councils of the four campuses, made a floral offering on a monolith, located next to the Arenals building on the Elche campus, as a tribute to the victims of COVID 19.
