The Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche has won the Valencian Community’s “The Glass Games – The Glass Challenge,” organized by Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization responsible for glass recycling in Spain. Each university set a specific target based on its student enrollment; in UMH’s case, it was 510 kilos (1,158 glass containers). The prize was awarded to the university that exceeded its target by the greatest percentage.

UMH, having achieved a result of over 2,900 kg, has won the €5,000 prize, which will be used for environmental research grants and managed by the Environmental Office. The prize money was presented today to the Rector of UMH, Jesús T. Pastor Ciurana, by Ecovidrio’s area manager, Roberto Fuentes.
