ORIGIN: Mediterranean region.
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Evergreen tree with a straighter trunk than the Aleppo pine and a rounded crown, which takes on an umbrella shape when mature. Branches and bark are reddish-brown.

- Spain is the world’s leading producer of pine nuts, followed by the countries of the Mediterranean basin.
USES:
- ORNAMENTAL: Used in gardens for its harmonious structure and shade.
- FOOD: Its pine nuts are used in baking and numerous Mediterranean dishes.
- INDUSTRIAL: Its wood is light and flexible, making it suitable for carpentry and structural applications, particularly in shipbuilding, as well as for papermaking and resin production.
