ORIGIN: It comes from Asia. Some texts say it could be one of the first plants cultivated by humans.
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Its leaves are deciduous.
- Depending on the variety, it can have one or two fruiting seasons per year. When it does, the first and largest fruit of the season is called a breba, and the second fruiting (at the end of August) is called a fig.
INTERESTING FACTS:
- Natural pollination occurs thanks to the action of small wasps.
- You should be careful with its sap because it can cause allergic reactions on your skin.
USES:
- LEAF: A great preservative; you can store fruits and vegetables in them or even wrap cheeses.
- FOOD: In addition to enjoying its delicious fresh fruit, you can also consume it as dried fruit.
- MEDICINAL: Its fruits (fresh or dried), ingested in a normal dose, reduce constipation. There are many home remedies for skin conditions, cholesterol, as an anti-inflammatory, and so on.
