ORIGIN: Mediterranean region.
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Evergreen tree with a twisted trunk and irregular crown.
- Grayish branches and bark.
INTERESTING FACTS:
- It is a pyrophytic species: high temperatures cause its cones to explode, dispersing its seeds. Therefore, it is opportunistic and can easily propagate after a fire.
USES:
- ORNAMENTAL: Used in Mediterranean gardens for its hardiness and the shade it provides.
