The Rector of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, Juan José Ruiz Martínez, presented the awards this morning for the 11th edition of the ‘UMH University Management Innovation Week’, the ‘UMH Teaching Talent Awards’, and the ‘Academic Excellence Grants’.
The ceremony was held in the Auditorium of the Severo Ochoa building on the Sant Joan d’Alacant campus. In addition to Rector Juan José Ruiz, those attending the awards ceremony included the Vice President of the Social Council, Diego García García; the Vice Rector for Faculty, José Carlos Espigares Huete; the Vice Rector for Studies, Susana Fernández de Ávila López; and the University Manager, Emma Benlloch Marco.
In the 11th edition of the UMH University Management Innovation Week awards, each worth €2,000, the winning projects were: Share Your Commute, proposed by Abel Torrecillas Moreno of the Occupational Observatory Service; AUTHENTIC UMH, proposed by Carlos Manuel Ramos Lahiguera of the Innovation and Technological Planning Service; and Take Care of Yourself-UMH, proposed by Belén Carrillo Martínez of the Quality Service. The UMH University Management Innovation Week is coordinated by the Quality Service and promoted by the University Administration.
Share Your Commute proposes implementing a feature in the official travel authorization application to allow users to share their personal vehicle when travel is planned. AUTHENTIC UMH, on the other hand, focuses on revitalizing the UMH personalized access page through the active participation of the university community. Finally, CuidaT-UMH aims to integrate healthy alerts into the UMH mobile app for the entire university community, using sound cues to promote healthy habits.
Likewise, the jury of the 11th UMH University Management Innovation Week Award has given an honorable mention to the proposal “What You See, What You Want,” submitted by Mar Roldán Romero and Óscar Martínez Rodríguez, from the Environmental and Sustainable Development Area and the Innovation and Technological Planning Service, respectively. This proposal aims to include a photo of products and a detailed description of their characteristics in the ordering application to streamline the purchasing process.
In addition, the 28 students with the best academic records from the 2023-2024 academic year have received Academic Excellence Grants of €1,000 each. This award falls under the UMH Scholarship and Grant Program of the Vice-Rectorate for Students and Coordination, which recognizes UMH students pursuing undergraduate or official first- and/or second-cycle degree programs.
The UMH has also awarded 90 UMH Teaching Talent prizes, each worth €1,100. These awards are distributed among professors in the academic fields of Health Sciences, Experimental Sciences and Engineering, and Social Sciences, Law, and Humanities. The prizes are part of the Docentia-UMH Program, which has received a positive evaluation from the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).
