In addition to the Rector, those attending the awards ceremony included the Vice President of the Social Council, Diego García García; the Vice Rector for Faculty, José Carlos Espigares Huete; the Vice Rector for Students and Coordination, José Juan López Espín; and the University Manager, Emma Benlloch Marco.
In the ninth edition of the UMH University Management Innovation Week awards, each worth €2,000, the winning projects were: “Information Panels” by Jesús Martínez Martínez, from the Communications Department; “UMH Day” by Roberto Prada González, also from the Communications Department; and the “UMH Wikiscience” idea, proposed by Ángeles Gallar Martínez, from the Communications Department. The UMH University Management Innovation Week is coordinated by the Quality Service and promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Knowledge Transfer and Exchange and the UMH Administration.
The “Information Panels” idea proposes the installation of small information panels at the entrances to classrooms and various other rooms. “UMH Day” is a fun-filled, festive day held in a single morning at secondary schools, during which all students can participate in a variety of activities related to the UMH. ‘Wikiscience UMH’ involves creating a unique protocol to showcase the work of female researchers and authors at UMH across all fields of knowledge.
Likewise, the jury of the 8th UMH University Management Innovation Week Award granted an honorable mention to the proposal ‘Recycle or Waste,’ submitted by Mar Roldán Romero from the Environmental and Sustainable Development Area. This proposal aims to place images on the waste bins of the four UMH campuses, providing clear and simple information on which waste is recyclable and in which container to place each type.
During the event, recognition was also given to the driving forces behind the implemented proposals stemming from previous editions of Innovation Week. The four projects are:
‘What to Eat at UMH’ (Honorable Mention, 7th Week): UMH food options have been added to the University’s app. This includes identifying food outlets, vending machines, and cafeterias, along with their opening hours. Daily cafeteria menus are displayed so you can see what’s available each day without having to visit them.
‘Intuitive Design Templates’ (Week 6): The Communications Office has made various professionally designed templates available to the university community. Users can adapt these templates to their needs as visual aids for communication, such as PowerPoint presentations for classes and lectures, explanatory videos, social media posts, event posters, or posters for presenting scientific results.
‘Consult’ (Week 7): This is a website where students can request online appointments and supplement their information with videos and frequently asked questions related to various academic management procedures. The project begins with the following topics: pre-registration for master’s programs, credit recognition for undergraduate and master’s degrees, admission with partial university studies, and scholarships. The content will be progressively expanded to facilitate interaction with students in a streamlined and accessible way.
‘University Urban Art Route’ (7th Week): A collaborative art project in which the university community and the citizens of Elche joined forces to design, draw, and paint a surface on campus with the aim of promoting integration and dialogue. The project took place on October 1st during the 25th anniversary celebration, in conjunction with the Elche Fine Arts Association (ABAE). A 50-meter-long canvas was painted, which is currently on display on the Elche campus and will later be exhibited on the other campuses.
In addition, the 28 students with the best academic records from the 2021-2022 academic year received Academic Excellence Grants of €1,000 each. This award is part of the UMH Scholarship and Grant Program of the Vice-Rectorate for Students and Coordination, which recognizes UMH students pursuing undergraduate degrees or official first and/or second cycle qualifications.
For its part, the UMH has awarded 90 UMH Teaching Talent prizes, each worth 1,100 euros. These awards are distributed as follows:
