A delegation from the National University of Equatorial Guinea visits the UMH

The Rector of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, Juan José Ruiz Martínez, and the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the UMH, Vicente Micol Molina, met with the Rector of the National University of Equatorial Guinea (UNGE), Filiberto Ntutumu Nguema Nchama. The purpose of this visit by the UNGE delegation was to strengthen academic ties between the two institutions and to showcase the facilities at the UMH’s Elche campus.

In addition to the Rector and Vice-Rector, those attending the meeting from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) included the Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations and International Outreach, José Luis González; and the Director of the Development Cooperation and Volunteering Area, Juan José Ballesta. Representing the National University of Equatorial Guinea (UNGE) were the Director of Cooperation and Internationalization, Professor Antonio Nsue Ada; the Director of the Rector’s Office, José Martín Nguema Nchama; the Head of Protocol, Bonifacio Fla Ndong; the Director of Communications, Filomena Avomo; and diplomatic staff from the Embassy of Equatorial Guinea in Spain.

During the meeting, the renewal of the existing agreement was discussed, and progress was made on new possibilities for teaching and research collaboration between the two universities. UNGE representatives highlighted the UMH’s teaching potential as a reinforcement for postgraduate programs, as well as the need to promote student and faculty mobility, leveraging the shared bond of the Spanish language. Following the meeting, the UNGE delegation visited various UMH facilities, including the radio and television studios located in the Atzavares building.

UNGE is a public university founded 25 years ago with over 8,000 students spread across its island and mainland campuses.
