Official opening of the 2021/2022 academic year

The rector of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, Juan José Ruiz Martínez, inaugurated the 2021/2022 academic year on the morning of Friday, October 1. The event was attended by, among other personalities, the Minister of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, Carolina Pascual Villalobos.
In addition to the UMH Rector and Councilor Pascual Villalobos, the ceremony was presided over by the President of the UMH Board of Trustees, Joaquín Pérez Vázquez; the Rector of the University of Alicante, Amparo Navarro Faure; and the Rector of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón, Eva Alcón Soler.
The event was also attended by the Mayor of Elche, Carlos González, as well as the Rector of the European University of Valencia, Rosa Sanchidrian Pardo, among other dignitaries.
During the ceremony, the Secretary General of the University, Mercedes Sánchez Castillo, read the 2020/2021 Academic Year Report, and then the Director of the Sports Research Center (CID) of the UMH and University Professor, Francisco Javier Moreno, gave the inaugural lecture, entitled “Training Dosage in Sport: Science and Evidence.” Likewise, awards were presented to teaching and research staff (PDI) and administrative and administrative staff (PAS) who ceased to provide services during the 2020/2021 academic year due to death or contract termination, and the video “A Year in Pictures” was screened.
