Jorge Alió and Ángela Nieto, “Important Awards” from the newspaper Información

The rector of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, Jesús Pastor Ciurana, presented the “Important” award from the newspaper Información for the month of August last night to Jorge Alió, Professor of Ophthalmology at the UMH. At the same ceremony, Ángela Nieto, a researcher at the Institute of Neurosciences, a joint center of the UMH and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), was also honored. The awards ceremony was held yesterday at the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium (ADDA).

Professor Alió received this award for being included among the world’s one hundred most influential specialists in Ophthalmology, while also demonstrating his commitment to charitable work. Meanwhile, Javier Moll, president of Prensa Ibérica, the publishing group of the newspaper Información, presented the March award to researcher Ángela Nieto for her career dedicated to advancing science, which has led to improved therapies for cancer and other diseases.
