Inauguration of the new radio studios on the Elche, Altea and Orihuela campuses.
4 March 2026
The Rector of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, Jesús Pastor Ciurana, has inaugurated the new digital radio studio on the Elche campus. The inauguration of these new facilities coincided with a live broadcast from the new Radio UMH studio of the music magazine program “Territori Sonor” on Àpunt Mèdia, in which journalist Amàlia Garrigós interviewed Rector Jesús Pastor. In addition to the new radio studios on the Elche campus, the UMH has also inaugurated studios on the Altea campus and the Orihuela-Desamparados campus.
Students from the Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, and the double degree program in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism at UMH also attended the broadcast of this Àpunt Mèdia radio program.
The music program ‘Territori Sonor’ aims to celebrate Àpunt Mèdia’s first year on the air by interacting with future professionals and showcasing the diverse musical offerings from the Alto Vinalopó, Bajo and Medio Vinalopó, l’Alacantí, and Bajo Segura regions.
The new Radio UMH studios on the Elche campus are equipped with a digital sound console featuring mixers and audio encoders over an IP network, allowing simultaneous interconnection of the university radio station’s seven studios. Furthermore, Radio UMH’s digital studio will enhance the station’s audiovisual capabilities with the implementation of two robotic cameras and a multi-camera production system using the NDI protocol. This system will enable the broadcast of radio programs via social media and the TV terminals located across the four campuses.
This infrastructure also includes a spacious studio that, in addition to accommodating eight announcers, can hold up to 50 people. These features facilitate teaching, practical training, and the hosting of activities related to the degrees in Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, and the double degree in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, as well as providing a space for audiences to attend the recording and live broadcast of various Radio UMH programs and other events.
The studios at the Orihuela campus – Desamparados headquarters and the one in Altea have an 8-channel digital sound console, 2 playback/recording cards, 5 cardioid directional microphones, 1 multimedia playback deck, 1 audio encoder line to make connections with the central studios in Elche or other radio stations and 2 telephone lines.
