The Pedro Ibarra Chair presents a book about the 1918 flu epidemic in Elche, Crevillent and Santa Pola

“The ‘Spanish Flu’ Epidemic (1918-1919) in the Baix Vinalopó Region” is the title of the book presented this morning by the Pedro Ibarra Chair at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche. This publication deals with the devastation caused by the 1918 flu epidemic in Elche, Crevillent, and Santa Pola. The authors are Doctors of Medicine Jesús Rueda and Emilio Martínez, midwife and Doctor of Public Health Modesta Salazar, and the Chair’s director, Miguel Ors.

The book presentation was attended by the rector of the UMH, Jesús Pastor Ciurana, and the mayors of Elche, Carlos González Serna, and Crevillent, César Augusto Asencio Adsuar.
