The UMH presents the Advisory Council and the logo of the Cajamar Chair of Agricultural and Environmental Economics and Development

The Advisory Board of the Cajamar Chair of Agro-environmental Economics and Development at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche was established at the UMH’s Higher Polytechnic School of Orihuela (EPSO) during its first board meeting. Additionally, the Rector of the UMH, Jesús Pastor Ciurana, and the Regional Director of Cajamar Rural in Alicante, Francisco Javier Ruiz García, unveiled the signage bearing the Chair’s logo on the entrance monolith to the Tudemir building on the Orihuela campus, the Chair’s headquarters.
Also present at the event were the Vice-Rector for Economics and Business at UMH, Fernando Vidal; Professor Francisco José del Campo Gomis, from the Department of Agro-Environmental Economics, Cartographic Engineering, and Graphic Expression in Engineering at UMH and Director of the Cajamar Chair; Roberto García Torrente, Director of Agri-food Business at Cajamar and Co-Director of the Chair; María Dolores Pérez Murcia, Professor from the Department of Agrochemistry and Environment at UMH and Secretary of the Chair; Juan José Ruiz, Professor from the Department of Applied Biology at UMH and member of the Cajamar Chair; and David Uclés Aguilera, Director of the Agri-food Studies Service at Cajamar Caja Rural and member of the Chair.
During the meeting, various topics were discussed, including the annual activity plan for the Cajamar Chair of Agro-environmental Economics and Development at the UMH for the 2014-2015 academic year and the budget for this period. The research areas to be addressed are the sustainable development of rural areas, the promotion of traditional foods, and healthy eating. The organization of several national conferences and awards, which will be announced throughout the year, was also approved.
