{"id":3049,"date":"2016-05-12T09:52:33","date_gmt":"2016-05-12T07:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/protocolo.umh.es\/?p=3049"},"modified":"2026-03-02T11:56:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T10:56:19","slug":"el-rector-presenta-la-escola-de-frikis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/protocolo.umh.es\/en\/2016\/05\/12\/el-rector-presenta-la-escola-de-frikis\/","title":{"rendered":"The rector presents the &#8220;School of geeks&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>The University Institute \u201cCenter for Operations Research\u201d (CIO) at the Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University (UMH) of Elche has organized the \u201cSchool for Geeks.\u201d The aim of this initiative is to promote the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among all children aged 7 to 12 in the province of Alicante, as an extracurricular activity in schools. The Rector of the UMH, Jes\u00fas Pastor Ciurana, the Vice-Rector for Planning at the UMH, Fernando Borr\u00e1s, and the Director of the CIO, Federico Botella, will present this project to representatives from the municipalities of the province of Alicante today, May 12, at 12:00 noon, in the Quorum I building on the Elche campus.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSchool for Geeks\u201d will begin during the 2016-2017 academic year with the goal of sparking children&#8217;s interest in the use of technology and computer science. This initiative also aims to teach children computer programming to foster problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity.
